We've just had some incredible events in the church I get to pastor. Saturday, we said goodbye to a preacher (Tyler Long) and his family who spent a month with us, teaching people from our community about Jesus through Bible prophecy and working with them to go forward in trusting their lives to God through Jesus Christ. The church has been invigorated, people have made their decisions and been baptized, and I personally have been so impressed with the way God has led.
A guest from another church told me how impressed he was with how we are doing things here in McKinleyville--all the things we have planned for outreach and building the body of Christ. The reply I gave might be disappointing to some, but I think it goes right to the heart of our way of putting our trust in God. I had to tell him that we have no great strategy, that we haven't put together any step by step master plan. We have made it our effort to surrender to God and be open to His plan, whatever it may be and whatever it may cost.
We have seen Him lead and open the way for all the wonderful things that have been happening. This is encapsulated in a wonderful passage that has gripped my mind ever since it penetrated my consciousness: "Trust in the Lord with all your heart. Lean not unto your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will direct your path." Proverbs 3:5-6.
